WELCOME TO THE HOME OF THE BOBCATS
Welcome to the home of the Beulah High School Band Program in Valley, Alabama. Beulah is located in Lee County near the banks of the picturesque Lake Harding. Our current school enrollment is 580 students in grades 7-12 and as of November 2013, we are classified as a 3A school by the AHSAA and a class DD band by the Alabama Bandmasters Association.
MARCHING BAND - The marching band is the most traveled organization in our school. The Pride of Beulah Land Marching Band is the primary performing ensemble in the Fall months. Membership is open to any member of the previous year's band or with director permission. Practice begins in mid-July and continues through the month of October. Each Fall, the ensemble will perform at a minimum of ten Frinday night football games, two Saturday contests, two parades, countless pep rallies, and various other civic responsibilities. Members must demonstrate proper marching fundamentals and tone production.
CONCERT BAND - The concert band begins rehearsing in late October in preparation for the Christmas Concert. During the Spring Semester, the ensemble will participate in the Alabama Bandmasters Association Music Performance Assessment. Individual members will have the opportunity to participate in various honor bands, all state auditions, and solo & ensemble events. Membership is open to any member of the previous year's band or with director permission.
JAZZ BAND - The JazzCats Jazz Ensemble was created to allow students to rehearse and perform music from the rock and jazz genres. This ensemble is open to any member of the band with director's permission and begins rehearsal in March.
PEP BAND - A select number of students are allowed to participate in a pep band that performs around the area and at some home basketball games. A focus is placed on school spirit and musical ability. Membership is open through audition.
VISUAL ENSEMBLE - The visual ensemble consists of three units: Majorettes, Dance Line, and Color Guard. All groups are a performing unit of the Pride of Beulah Land Marching Band. Membership is open to any student at BHS. An intensive week long camp is offered in March to teach the basic fundamentals and group routines. After the camp, perspective members must complete a tryout. There are additional expenses associated with this ensemble such as uniforms, props, makeup, shoes, etc. A detailed list of expenses is given during the training camp.
